Woman found hanging inside lover's flat
Urmi Das, the 22-year-old deceased, was living in together with her boyfriend Sudipta Das for the last six months.
Kolkata: A young woman was found dead at her lover’s rented house under mysterious circumstances in Charu Market area on Tuesday night.
Urmi Das, the 22-year-old deceased, was living in together with her boyfriend Sudipta Das for the last six months.
Earlier she was had a registry with another month on February 2 this year while their wedding was scheduled this month.
But their relation soon turned sour, according to sources, adding that she moved for separation after getting into another affair with Sudipta.
The duo started living together at a rented house at Charuchandra Place East.
Her relationship was known to her family which opposed it vehemently.
At around 10 pm on Tuesday, Urmi’s parents called her on her cellphone many times but the calls went unanswered.
Following thism they visited Sudipta’s rented accommodation and found the door to be locked.
On breaking it, they found Urmi hanging hanging from the ceiling. She was declared brought dead at M.R. Bangur Hospital.
The body was sent for post-mortem.
Acting on her parents’ complaint, the police arrested Sudipta on abetment of suicide charge.
They alleged that Sudipta used to beat her forcing her take the drastice step to end her life.
Urmi’s father Uttam Das accused Sudipta of demanding huge amount of money often from her and putting pressure on her for it.
Sudipta however denied the allegation to the police. According to him, he was not home when Urmi died, said a police officer.
