Departments merged, 23 IAS officers shifted
The state cabinet has recently cut down the number of departments of the state government to 52 from the existing 63.
Kolkata: In a major administrative reshuffle following the merger of departments, the Mamata Banerjee government effected the transfer of 23 IAS officers.
Debasish Sen who held the urban development department has been relieved off the department’s charge.and Onkar Singh Meena, has been appointed as the principal secretary of urban development and municipal affairs department that has been merged recently.
Mr. Sen however will continue to be the chairman of West Bengal Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco). He has also been appointed as chairman of Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority.(NITA) Alapan Bandopadhyay of transport department has been relieved off the charge of NITA.
The state cabinet has recently cut down the number of departments of the state government to 52 from the existing 63. Reena Venkataraman of science & technology has been transferred to consumer affairs department, which was held as additional charge along with labour by Gopal Krishna.
P Ramesh Kumar of civil defence department — that was merged with disaster management — has been posted as commissioner, Presidency division.
