Civic polls from August 6 in Bengal

Kolkata: The civic polls will be held on August 6 in six municipal bodies and one notified area in the state. This was announced by the West Bengal State Election Commission on Wednesday.

The six municipal bodies are Durgapur in Burdwan, Haldia in East Midnapore, Ranaghat in Nadia, Dhupguri in Jalpaiguri, Panskura in East Midnapore, Nalhati in Birbhum. The notified area that will go to the polls is Coopers Camp in Nadia. The polls in these bodies were earlier postponed. In the last round of civic polls at six bodies on May 14, the TMC bagged the most seats, entering Darjeeling amidst the Opposition’ allegation of electoral malpractices.

All eyes will now be on the second round of municipal polls.
