Berhampore: A two-month old boy was allegedly stolen from a former OCs quarter in Berhampore. The baby was later recovered and a maid was arrested on charges of theft following a combing operation.

Police sources said that former Nabagram OC Dulal Biswas (now Lalbag court inspector) and his wife Santana had left their baby in the care of a newly-hired maid. While Mr Biswas was on duty, Mrs Biswas was at home.

Busy working in the kitchen, Mrs Biswas found she had been locked in her home from the outside and the baby, along with the maid were missing.  After a combing operation was directed by the Murshidabad SP Mukesh, the maid was detained from Debipur village in Jalangi.

The baby was traced from a Berhampore housing complex after the accused was interrogated by the police.
