Kolkata: The Alipore Court on Wednesday lifted the restrictions imposed on former Trinamul Congress minister Madan Mitra, who is an accused in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam case.

The judge ruled that Mr Mitra can visit any place in the state except the state secretariat, the erstwhile state secretariat: Writers’ Building, Darjeeling and any police station.

While granting bail to the former Trinamul MLA in October, the Alipore Court had ordered that he could not leave the jurisdiction of the Bhowanipore police station in south Kolkata among a set of conditions to be fulfilled by him.

In a recent appeal filed before the Alipore court, Mr Mitra had sought permission to visit his ailing wife at his residence under the jurisdiction of the Kalighat police station. His prayer was granted by the judge.
