Two injured after being shot at by gang in Park Circus

Kolkata: Two persons were shot at by a gang of miscreants in Park Circus late on Monday night. Haidar Ahmed and Parvez Ahmed, the two injured, were rushed to the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital from where they were later shifted to a private hospital in Alipore. 

They were talking to each other at around 10 pm at Meher Ali Lane in Beniapukur near their residences when a gang of four miscreants came in two motorcycles and opened fire on the duo before escaping. The local residents alleged that five rounds were fired. 

Haidar suffered three bullet injuries while Parvez received three. Their condition is currently stable. Blood stains were later found on a car which was near where Haidar and Parvez were standing. A feud related to promoting in the area led to the shooting, according to the police. Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the attackers is known to Haidar. The police has initiated a case on attempt to murder charge. However, no one has been arrested so far in the daring shooting. The investigators have collected the CCTV footages of the areas to identify the accused and their route of escape. 

Meanwhile, eight persons were arrested by the police in the clash between two groups of miscreants in Kasba recently. The clash took place over gaining control between two groups allegedly backed by the ruling party. On Tuesday a police team conducted a raid in the area.
