Congress also plans anti-PM protests
District party leadership has been asked to make preparations to organise the protest movements.
Kolkata: The state Congress workers will hit the streets across the state in January to protest against the Centre’s demonetisation move. A meeting was held among state party leaders recently where it was decided that the protest movements would be carried out across 294 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal. The district party leadership has been asked to make preparations to organise the protest movements.
“Our aim is to launch a mass movement against the Narendra Modi government against its arbitrary and irrational decisions. For one wrong economic policy of the government, the people of the entire country are suffering. Prime Minister Narandra Modi, who is not an expert in economics, criticises notable economists of the country such as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Mr Modi is a self-proclaimed economist who is trying to help his friends turn black money into white,” said senior Congress leader and leader of the Opposition in west Bengal Legislative Assembly, Abdul Mannan.
“The people of the country do not know have a clue on what is the final stand of the central government on demonetisation. We have decided to hit the streets across the state in January to make people understand the consequences of the Centre’s demonetisation move,” he added.
