Kolkata: A short-film maker was arrested by the police for allegedly harrassing a woman with indecent proposals on the pretext of providing her a role in a movie.
The accused, Arnab Roy, was caught on Friday night by the cops of the Baguiati police station from Arjunpur.
The victim is the mother of a girl who is a student at a school in Baguiati where Arnab’s son also studies.
They came to know each other there in 2015. According to the woman who works at a private hospital in Topsia, Arnab offered her a role in a short film which was to be made by him.
On the excuse of discussing her role he used to call her up and gave her indecent proposals. Irritated, the woman changed her mobile number which gave her some relief next year. Arnab however started calling up the hospital on its landline number to get in touch with her.
He used to claim to the staff that he wanted to get his money back from her so that the call would be connected to her. On March 27 he visited her residence in Kestopur.
Since the woman was not present there, he threatened her mother-in-law and spewed venom against the victim to her. She later lodged complaints at the Baguiati and Topsia police stations.
