Two arrested for killing, looting elderly
They were booked in the case of murder of Gouri Sen (67) at her residence on June 17.
Kolkata: The detective department (DD) of the Kolkata police arrested two persons on Saturday for the murder of an aged woman in Netajinagar a week ago. They were Vicky Shaw (24) of Mohinath Para Lane at Salkia in Howrah’s Malipachghara and Mohammed Azad (30) of Baripokhar at Jalki in Katihar from Bihar. They were booked in the case of murder of Gouri Sen (67) at her residence on June 17.
After killing Sen, they had also looted jewellery from her home. According to preliminary investigation, it was murder for gain. Joint commissioner of police (crime) Vishal Garg informed that Vicky was caught from Golabari at around 6 pm and his revelations led to the arrest of Azad at around 10.45 pm from Begumpur at Chanditala in Hooghly.
Mr Garg added, “While Vicky purchased the stolen jewellery, Azad was one of the conspirators of the heinous plot. A part of the jewellery has been recovered from the jewellery shop of Vicky while the missing mobile of the victim and other items have been recovered from the hideout of Azad in Hooghly.” On Sunday, Vicky and Azad were produced at the Alipore court which has remanded them in the police custody till July 5.
