Professor quizzed over post on IPS officer

Kolkata: A young professor was questioned by the Kolkata police for allegedly posting offensive comments about IPS officer Aparajita Rai over the lathicharge on the Left Front workers during the their rally “March to Nabanna”, which witnessed violence on May 22.
In his post in the social networking site, Riddho Chaudhuri shared a photo of the IPS officer, who has been posted as the additional deputy commissioner of police (South) mentioning her name and accusing her of helping the Trinamul Congress during the municipal elections of 2015 in Salt Lake.
Mr Chaudhuri also allegedly threatened her for the cops’ lathicharge on the Left workers and journalists during the rally. He was summoned to Lalbazar, the city police headquarters, on Thursday afternoon and was questioned till late night after he was booked in a case at the cyber police station.
Mr Chaudhuri, who lives at Falguni Abasan in Salt Lake, visited Lalbazar at around 4.30 pm and stayed there till 11.30 pm. The police seized his computer and cellphone. At night, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP Ritabrata Banerjee and CPI(M) student wing leader Saptarshi Deb visited Mr Chaudhuri and talked to him.
