Kolkata: Making it clear that her tirade against the ‘anti people’ decision of demonetisation by the Narendra Modi government will continue, chief minister and Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said said she would fight till the end against the move which has imposed an “undeclared financial emergency”.

“Never before the country has faced such a situation. The step has been taken to help a handful siphon off their black money at the cost of sufferings of the common man,” a senior TMC leader said quoting Ms Banerjee.

MPs Sudip Bandopadhyay, Derek O’Brien and TMC vice-president Mukul Roy will raise the issue in Parliament while highlighting the problems faced by the common people, the party has decided.

As announced earlier, Ms Banerjee will lead a protest rally against demonetisation from College Square to Dharmatala on Monday afternoon and will leave for Lucknow to address a meeting on November 29. She will be in Patna the following day to organise another protest movement.

“We will stage protest in front of tea gardens across the state and submit deputation to the owners on November 29. The bidi workers will voice their grievances at Dhulian in Murshidabad on November 30. On December 1, there will be agitation in front of Tea Board in Kolkata with tea garden workers and employees of the co-operation set to gather at Rani Rashmoni on December 2 and follow it up with a deputation to Reserve Bank of India, Kolkata. They will also organise a protest 100 metres away from RBI alleging short supply of notes,” TMC state president Subrata Bakshi said after the meeting.

The TMC will hold protest before the office of the jute commissioner in Salt Lake on December 5 and also organise a meeting with jute workers at Jangipur in Murshidabad.
