Three fake doctors arrested by CID, police

Kolkata: The state criminal investigation department (CID) and the state police effected the arrest of three fake doctors from different parts of the state on Thursday morning and Wedensday night.

While the state CID apprehended a fake dentist from Barasat in North 24 Parganas, the other two doctors were arrested from Laketown by the Bidhannagar police commissionerate and Deganga area by the local police station.

On the basis of a compliant at Barasat police station, the state CID on Thursday held a raid in Kazipara, Barasat in and arrested a fake dentist called Kazi Gafur Ahmed. “Several incriminating documents as well as dental apparatuses and instruments were seized from the accused’s chamber. He will be forwarded to Barasat court on Friday,” Nishat Parvez, DIG, CID (operations) said.

In another case, sleuths of Bidhannagar Commisionerate, on the basis of information received from state CID, arrested another fake doctor. “We received information that Aradeep Chatterjee, a resident of S.K. Bose Road in Laketown, was working at a private nursing home in the area associated with research and treatment of cancer. When we raided the nursing home and asked him to provide his medical degree or registration number, he failed to do it. He was arrested immediately,” a senior official of the detective department of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate said. Chatterjee used a fake MD degree. A suo moto case has been initiated at Laketown police station.

In another case, Deganga police station apprehended one Gobindo Sarkar, who has been attending a private chamber as a general physician without a valid registration for more than seven years. An assistant sub inspector posed as a patient to effect the arrest from Berachampa area under Deganga police station in North 24-Parganas.
