8 BMC workers hospitalised, one critical
The patients were first sent to the privately-run Saboo Siddiqui Hospital.
Mumbai: Around eight BMC officers and workers of the B ward were admitted to the state-run J.J. Hospital on Thursday evening. They are suspected to be suffering from severe food poisoning.
The BMC officers are attached to the Babula Tank Road, B ward office of BMC; of the eight officers, four are women. One is critical and has been put on oxygen while the remaining employees are now stable and recuperating. All of them said they consumed food at the B ward canteen. The patients were first sent to the privately-run Saboo Siddiqui Hospital.
Dr Sanjay Surase, medical superintendent, J.J. Hospital, said, “Eight BMC officers were brought in to the hospital. One was immediately put on oxygen; seven others are now stable. They are suspected to be suffering from food poisoning.”
The patients have been identified as Trupti Laxman Shirkhe (35), Savita Sanjeev Pandit (35), Krishnakant Gopal Dhanawade (49), Nish-ant Arun Suryavanshi (27), Chandrakant Ramc-handra Jambholi (40), Chandrasekhar Arun Patil (21), Pratiksha Dat-taram Mohite (21), Ta-nay Kamlakar Joshi (56), Sushma Sanjay Lokha-nde (47) and Narsimha Deva Kanchan (65).
Dr Surase said, “All the patients mostly complained of a tingling sensation, giddiness and burning sensation of the face. They’re being adm-inistered antacid and samples have been sent to the laboratory for revealing further deta-ils. All patients are stable except Mohite who has low blood pressure.”
