Mumbai: Two women running a prostitution racket in Bhayandar were arrested by a special team from Thane (rural) police led by ASP Atul Kulkarni on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off about trafficking of young girls, the police established contact with the pimps with the help of a decoy. The decoy struck a deal with the pimps and scheduled a meeting with them at a restaurant on Uttan-Bhayandar road. The police laid a trap and caught the pimps identified as Rama Waghmare (22) and Mohini Das (45) while they were closing the deal. One of the pimps was found carrying a human rights organisation identity card. The police also rescued two women who were forced into prostitution.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
