CR conducts drive for E-ticketing

MUMBAI: In a bid to promote the UTS ticketing app among railway commuters, Central Railway (CR) has planned a massive awareness campaign on the suburban railway stations. The railway board had recently increased the recharge upper limit on UTS app from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.

Mumbai Division of CR has been conducting the campaign ‘Q not for U’ on its mainline. A CR officer said, “The drive has been conducted at CSMT, Dadar and Kurla. Such drives will be organised at Ghatkopar, Mulund, Thane and Kalyan among other stations in June.

The campaign that was held at CSMT on Tuesday included 50 personnel of commercial department. These personnels approached the commuters and informed them regarding the benefits of using the UTS app. Close to 350 passengers downloaded the app at CSMT.

A similar drive held at Dadar  on Wednesday resulted in 175 people downloading the app after being approached by eight personnel. A drive was also held at Kurla on Thursday.

At present 1.5 lakh commuters use UTS app on the central line. CR aims to increase the number of user to 2 lakh by June end. “The commercial department has made three audio-video clips and one radio jingles for the UTS campaign. The clips are in circulation to promote the app, said and official.

The Asian Age had reported on May 9 that the railways decided to give five per cent additional recharge value to the commuters in the railways wallet, an e-payment mode of railways.
