CMO to approach Maratha heads for solution

Mumbai: The chief minister’s office is reaching out to eminent personalities from the Maratha community in the state for exploring a solution to the ongoing agitation. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will meet these personalities on August 2 in Mumbai.

Among the personalities contacted are former high court Judge, B.N. Deshmukh and film actor Sayaji Shinde.

On Tuesday, a senior officer from Maharashtra CMO called few prominent persons from Maratha community in Maharashtra. Though the complete list of these persons are not available yet, but sources confirmed that CMO tried to get faces from all corners on board. "The attempt is to bring all senior and respected people together and through them see that the peace and harmony prevails in state," said a senior officer from CMO Maharashtra.

Earlier, sixteen prominent persons from Maratha community had issued a statement appealing protesters to not take law in their hands. In the statement of appeal they have said, "Maratha community is like an elder brother in Maharashtrian society. Therefore, it is our responsibility to maintain law and order in state and see that peace wouldn't get disturbed." Statement also blamed state government for mishandling the serious issue.

People like senior leader N.D. Patil, former high court Judge B.N. Deshmukh, intellectuals Jayasingrao Pawar and A.H. Salunkhe, film actor Sayaji Shinde and others signed the statement. So, CMO Maharashtra is trying to reach out to few of these persons as well as others from the state.
