IIT-B to audit 150-year-old city structure
The bench earlier had directed the TAC to conduct an inspection of the building and submit a report on whether the building could be repaired.
Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Tuesday directed the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, to conduct a structural audit of the 150-year-old dilapidated Esplanade Mansion building in south Mumbai. The Esplanade Mansion figures in the list of heritage structures in the city.
The division bench of Justice Ranjit More and Justice Anuja Prabhudessai directed the IIT-B to conduct the structural audit after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) counsel Anil Sakhre told the court that the civic body could not conduct the inspection of this building, as directed by the court, because the technical advisory committee (TAC) was defunct for the last few months.
The bench earlier had directed the TAC to conduct an inspection of the building and submit a report on whether the building could be repaired.
