Tech glitch at airport delays flights by 1 hour
The LAN failure impacted the baggage check-in system at both Terminal 1 and 2 of Mumbai Airport.
Mumbai: The baggage check-in systems of both Terminal 1 and 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) were impacted after the Local Area Network (LAN) failed for over an hour due to a reported power supply issue on Tuesday evening. The system was restored around 5.50 pm, but it caused delays in issuing boarding passes and loading baggage.
“We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers due to an unexpected technical glitch. The team efficiently resolved the issue and the operations resumed within a short period of time.
Additional manpower was deployed to look into essential operational measures making sure that the passengers were facilitated smoothly,” said a spokesperson from the city’s CSIA.
The systems were affected at around 4:45 pm on Tuesday. According to airline firms, the network failure had delayed departures upto an hour.
“Due to a LAN network failure at Mumbai International Airport, check-in systems were impacted for all airlines and departure delays up to one hour are expected,” tweeted Jet Airways through their official twitter handle.
Since the check-in was done manually, passengers had to wait in long queues, and several people were stranded at the international airport. The CISA is considered one of the busiest airports in the world and handles up to 900 flights per day.
