Mumbai: On Wednesday, sthe University of Mumbai (MU) missed the third deadline for the declaration of all its final-year degree college results, which was given by the Bombay high court. MU had earlier missed the July 31, August 5 and August 15 deadlines. Around 30 results have been declared since last week, but the varsity’s server has been constantly crashing due to heavy traffic, which it is struggling to handle.

Students are complaining that they can’t even open the MU portal in order to check their results. The results that are yet to be declared includes those of the Bachelors in Banking and Insurance (BBI), Bachelors in Commerce in Accounting and Finance (BAF) and Bachelors in Financial Management and Master of Commerce. These courses have more than 10,000 students each.

MU officially declared the results of Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Third Year Bachelor of Arts (TYBA) and all the six results of Law. However, it took more than two to three days for them to be displayed on the MU portal. On Sunday, when the TY BA results were announced, the server crashed, as it could not take the load. MU’s acting Controller of Examination (CoE) Arjun Ghatule said, “It was an abnormal switch off. We could not help it at that moment. On Monday we tried to lessen the load so the portal can get back to normal. Immediately after that, on Tuesday because of heavy rains the portal crashed all over again.” MU has made a new website for the results: www.mumresults.in

The printing and distributing of the mark sheets have already begun at MU. Results of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), BMS and TY BA courses have been dispatched. Within the next two days, students can collect them from their respective college.

More than 7,000 students are waiting for their Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) results under Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) and more than 17,000 for the Master of Commerce (M.Com) results. However, a source at IDOL confirmed that every year IDOL results come in September so the delay is nothing new.
