FIR against man for threatening Shiv Sena leader
The FIR was registered when Sheetal Mhatre approached the local police station.
Mumbai: The MHB police station of suburban Borivali has registered a FIR against a Twitter user for threatening to kill Shiv Sena spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi and corporator Sheetal Mhatre.
According to the police, the FIR has been registered against one Ashish K.R. Dwivedi who uses the Twitter handle @ASHISH-KRDW2.
The FIR was registered when Ms Mhatre approached the local police station, and Dwivedi was booked for criminal intimidation under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the police, the tweet came to light Wednesday when Ms Mhatre was scrolling through her Twitter account and stumbled upon the threatening remark on a post shared by Ms Chaturvedi. Ms Chaturvedi had tagged Ms Mhatre in the same post.
The original post was tweeted by Ms Chaturvedi, congratulating Ms Mhatre for organising a Diwali event where she was one of the dignitaries, as confirmed by Ms Mhatre.
Along with the tweet, Ms Chaturvedi had posted a few pictures from the event.
Ms Mhatre chanced upon the comment where Dwivedi threatened Sena leaders on the social media platform. She immediately approached the police and registered a FIR.
