Thieves who stole equipment worth Rs 90 lakh arrested

Acting on a tip off, the police laid a trap and arrested the duo from Chunabhatti and recovered the stolen goods.

Mumbai: Police teams from Zone 7 of the Mumbai police successfully arrested two persons who had stolen the equipment used for installation of a Vodafone telecom tower in Ghatkopar from a storage godown in Mulund on Sunday. The arrested accused decamped with the equipment worth Rs 90.70 lakh, and intended to sell it in the interior parts of Gujarat. Acting on a tip off, the police laid a trap and arrested the duo from Chunabhatti and recovered the stolen goods.

According to the police sources, the arrested accused the duo identified as Shivshankar Kanojiya (23) and Dilip Dubey (26), residents of Chunabhatti had stolen the telecom tower equipment from a godown in Mulund where it was stored. The duo did the recce of the spot, as it was captured in the CCTV footage near the godown. The equipments were stored in Sami Tradestar Logistics Limited in Mulund. The theft was registered on
November 26.

Acting on a tip off, the police arrested the duo from Chunabhatti. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the duo was going to sell the stolen goods to a trader at Gujarat. The police managed to recover all the equipment worth  Rs 90.70 lakh.
