Tragedy claims lives of mum, 20-day-old
Among those who lost their lives was a man from Bihar named Babu Ali (20), who was brought dead to J.J. hospital.
Mumbai: Just 20 days after Alifiya Mandsorwala (25) gave birth to her son Burhanuddin Abbas, both she and her baby died in the collapse of Hussaini building. Their bodies were taken to state-run J.J. hospital. According to the family’s relatives, Alifiya was staying with her parents in a flat on the second floor of the 117-year-old building and had come there two months ago to deliver her baby. Her parents survived as they were away when the building collapsed. The deceased’s husband stays in Mazgaon.
An acquaintance of the Mandsorwala family, Rafiq Sortia, said, “Alifiya came to stay with her parents to deliver her baby and take rest. Her husband is in a state of shock. The whole family is in mourning.”
