Maha cops detect explosives hidden under Gondia bridge

The explosives were hidden in a German container under the bridge on the road of Makrodoh Dandari village in Tekatola area of Gondia.

The sources revealed the names of these naxal units as Tippagadh Dalam, Devri Dalam, Permili Dalam, Aheri Dalam, Kekadi Dalam, and Etapalli Dalam. Here Dalam or Dal means Naxal units.

Mumbai: A major tragedy was averted on Sunday when the Maharashtra police discovered large amount of explosives and a timer device attached to it hidden under the bridge connecting two villages in Gondia for the purpose of destroying it, informed police on Sunday. Salekasa police successfully defused the explosives.

The explosives were hidden in a German container under the bridge on the road of Makrodoh Dandari village in Tekatola area of Gondia.

Talking to The Asian Age, a senior police officer, said, “The naxalites had planned to carry out explosions but soon after getting information about this the police seized the explosive material.”  

He also added, “Acting upon the tip–off we could detect the explosive at proper time.”

Earlier last month on the Maharashtra Day, 15 Quick Response Team (QRT) personnel and a civilian driver lost their lives when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) plugged with 30-40 kg RDX was detonated with the help of remote control.

The probe later revealed that there were six naxal units of Gadchiroli that were involved in attack on May 1, 2019.

The sources revealed the names of these naxal units as Tippagadh Dalam, Devri Dalam, Permili Dalam, Aheri Dalam, Kekadi Dalam, and Etapalli Dalam. Here Dalam or Dal means Naxal units. These units were controlled by ‘Company 4’ of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) or CPI (Maoist).
