Mumbai: Political parties and social activists have condemned Sunday’s lynching, with the Opposition slamming the BJP-led state government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Maharashtra Congress chief Ashok Chavan  the incident reflected the ‘reality of law and order in the state’. “This is not the first such incident. This has been happening over the last few days. But no action is being taken. The poison being spre-ad to disturb social harmony is taking its toll on us now,” he said.

Nationalist Congress Party state president Jayant Patil termed the incident barbaric. “We say that Maharashtra is a progressive state. But such incidents are a blot on us. We have been saying it from day one that the government must not let the hate-mongers take the law into their own hands. failure,” said Mr Patil.
