7 boys held for sodomising 15-year-old pal
The accused were friends of the 15-year-old boy but had been sexually abusing for more than two months.
Mumbai: The D.N. Nagar police has arrested seven minor boys for allegedly sodomising their friend, a 15-year-old boy, for more than two months. The boy had approached a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with his parents and thereafter, lodged a complaint with the police.
The seven boys have been booked under section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the POCSO Act and remanded to the Dongri correctional home. The seven accused were friends of the complainant and of the same age as him, and yet, had been sodomising him for the past couple of months.
The complainant hesitated to voice the sordid details of his ordeal and kept quiet but beyond a point, could not bear the pain and humiliation being inflicted on him and confided in his mother about the same. The boy’s mother turned to an NGO for help and the NGO in turn approached the D.N. Nagar police station to register a complaint against the seven accused.
Following the complaint, the police picked up the seven accused minors from their respective homes in Andheri west and booked them on charges of sodomy. Mumbai police spokesperson, deputy commissioner of police (Operations) RashmiKarandikar, said, “The seven boys, all teenagers, were arrested by the police early Wednesday and sent to Dongri correctional home. Since the case involves all minors, the police can provide only primary information, which does not reveal their identities.”
While the accused minors have confessed to committing the crime, the police is probing into the case to get more details. The police is recording statements of the victim’s other friends who might be aware of these incidents.
