Mumbai: A miffed Uddhav Thackeray said on Saturday that his party had not received any communication from the BJP regarding its proposed Cabinet expansion.

After six ministers resigned from the Union Cabinet this week, there was expectation in Mumbai that Mr Thackeray would be asked to give his recommendations for the reshuffle.

“I learnt about the Cabinet expansion only from the media. I have not enquired about it. Neither have I received any communication from anybody, nor are we hungry for power,” Mr Thackeray told the media in Mumbai.

According to sources, however, Shiv Sena has decided to demand a ministerial berth with independent charge. But till late Saturday evening, Mr Thackeray had not received a call from Delhi.

The Shiv Sena has 18 MPs in the Lok Sabha and three in the Rajya Sabha. And though it is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, it has just one Cabinet berth. Anant Geete, MP from Raigad, Maharashtra, is Union Cabinet minister for heavy industries and public sector enterprises.
