Mumbai: The accused-turned-approver in the 2012 Sheena Bora murder case, Shyamvar Rai, has moved a bail application from Navi Mumbai’s Taloja jail. In a handwritten application sent from the jail to the trial court in the case, Rai claimed that there is nobody to look after his family, the condition at his home is bad and he — the sole breadwinner — wants to take care of his family and hence he should be granted bail.
According to a CBI officer, the jail authorities have forwarded the handwritten application in Hindi by Rai to the CBI court. Special judge J.C. Jagdale has asked the CBI to file reply on Rai’s bail plea on Wednesday.
In the meantime, the court also allowed an application made by the CBI seeking permission to question Indrani Mukerjea in jail in connection with INX media case, involving Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union minister P. Chidambaram.
Indrani’s lawyer was cross-examining first witness PSI Ganesh Dalvi in the 2012 murder case. Advocate Sudeep Pasbola asked Dalvi if he has any documentary evidence to show if it was Indrani who booked a room.
