State to launch 13 ZP schools under MIEB
Teachers will undergo special training and interview rounds before being employed by these schools.
Mumbai: On June 15, the state education ministry will launch 13 Zilla Parishad schools under the newly-minted Maharashtra International Education Board (MIEB). The 13 schools will be converted into international schools, and will impart skill-based and experiential learning to students.
The selected schools under the MIEB will be from kindergarten (anganwadi) to class 3. “As of now, the plan is to start till class 3 in 13 schools but by June 2019, another 100 schools will begin in Maharashtra,” state education minister Vinod Tawde assured on Thursday. He said that several education experts and academicians had developed the curriculum for students so as to provide a different concept of education with no fees. The motto for these schools would be “local to global, known to unknown”.
Mr Tawde said, “Neither English nor Marathi will be made the first language. All languages will be given equal preference in these schools.” Teachers will have to undergo special training and interview rounds before being employed by these schools. As of now, 70 teachers had been finalised for the project.
The curriculum will focus on attitude, knowledge, application, skills and habits for the better future of the children. MIEB schools will be formulated in every division of Maharashtra. The infrastructure of these schools will be set up in such a way by the ministry so as to provide the right environment, infrastructure and curriculum to meet international standards. The woman and child development ministry will help the education ministry give the right education to the students of Zilla Parishad schools, which means they will work together in international school projects.
