MUMBAI: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will be visiting Dubai, Montreal and San Francisco over a period of nine days from June 10 to conclude deals for the Mumbai-Pune hyperloop transit system, artificial intelligence (AI) and other such cutting-edge technology to bolster the health sector. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for advanced technology will be signed between the chief minister and Canadian Prime Minister and Canadian minister of international relations, Christine St-Pierre.

Taking ahead a few MoUs signed during the Make In India week and Magnetic Maharashtra, the CM will be meeting all business partners as well as technology-related experts and institutions. The government has already signed an MoU with British billionaire Richard Branson of Virgin Group to construct parts of a hyperloop system between Mumbai and Pune. The CM will be visiting the trial track for hyperloop technology in California. The hyperloop will help in reducing travel time between the two cities to just 25 minutes.

“The government is very open to fostering technology in various sectors. We have signed MoUs with various companies for different technologies. The visit will help get actual technology and related expertise in Maharashtra,” an official from the CMO said.

AI is another field where the state government wants to invest and create more jobs. It has already set up an AI centre at the University of Mumbai (MU). AI is the theory and development of computer systems that make them competent for performing tasks that usually require human intelligence. The skills involved include visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making and translating languages.
