MUMBAI: Western Railway (WR) services cancelled 850 of its services between Bandra and Goregaon on Tuesday, while most outstations trains were cancelled, short terminated and reversed. WR runs a total of 1,355 services on this route. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sanjay Mishra said that all services would resume by midnight. The first suburban local to resume was from Andheri to CSMT at 2.15 pm.
A railway official said that all efforts were made to ensure restoration of harbour line after the traffic disruption on the suburban section between Goregaon and Andheri stations due to collapse of ROB. Restoring Harbour line ensured connectivity between Churchgate and Goregaon as well as between CSMT and Goregaon.
A WR spokesperson said that breakfast was arranged at Udvada and other stations for passengers of train number 12479 and other trains. Five long distance trains, including 19023 Mumbai Central-Firozpur Janta Express, 12953 Mumbai Central–H. Nizamuddin August Kranti Express, 19015 Mumbai Central-Porbandar Saurastra Express have been cancelled, 10 were short terminated and 14 express trains have been rescheduled.
Amid this, the ROB collapse has sparked off a blame game between BMC and the railways.
