Sanjay Nirupam livid with Congress

Mumbai: The bickering within the Mumbai Congress was once again exposed on Thursday after former Mumbai unit president Sanjay Nirupam expressed his disappointment with the party’s ticket distribution on the social media.

Mr Nirupam in a tweet claimed that he had recommended just one name in Mumbai for the Assembly polls but it was rejected. “As told to the leadership earlier, in that case will not participate in poll campaign. It’s my final decision sic),” Mr  Nirupam tweeted. He also indicated that he may soon quit the party too.

Mr Nirupam said, “I hope the day has not come yet to say good-bye to the party. But the way leadership is behaving with me, it doesn’t seem faraway”.

In another development, former corporator from Kalina, Brian Miranda — whose wife Tulip is the present corporator — said he was annoyed with the Congress for declaring George Abraham as its candidate from Kalina constituency.

Mr Miranda alleged that Congress had sold the seat to Mr Abraham and accused Priya Dutt of backstabbing him.

“Abraham had joined hands with the Shiv Sena to defeat Sunil Dutt in 2004. Dutt saheb had once said in a speech that he considered Abraham as his son but he backstabbed him. But today, his daughter has chosen the one who backstabbed her father. Congress leaders are finishing the party by giving tickets to unworthy people”, Miranda alleged.

Expressing his disappointment on social media, Mr Miranda added, “There is no place in Congress for a sincere worker like me. Even in the BMC election, my wife was elected by a big margin despite the Shiv Sena-BJP wave. But once again a grassroot worker has been betrayed for a ‘zero visibility’ candidate like George Abraham”.
