Minister announces SOPs for state, civic hospitals

Dr Sawant had praised Kerala for the fast strides it made in the health sector.

Mumbai: Emphasising on the lack of hygiene in state and civic-run hospitals, state health minister Dr Deepak Sawant has come up with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes measures to prevent patients from being infested by their kin. The move comes in the backdrop of the minister’s visit to Kerala to study the best practices at that state’s public hospitals. Dr Sawant had praised Kerala for the fast strides it made in the health sector. Amd taking the state as a role model when it comes to health sector to control contagious diseases, the minister have formed SOPs that will soon be followed in all government hospitals.

Dr Sawant said, “ After my Kerala visit, I have observed that they are well versed with hygiene and strict rules are followed when it comes to hygiene of patients and newborns.”

“Following that part, we have formed SOPs to make it compulsory for doctors, para-medical staff and relatives who are coming to see the ailing patients to wear caps, masks and sleepers inside the hospitals,” minister added.
