Man made to do squats for insulting' Raj Thackeray
The workers made him apologise for the comment and asked him to perform squats.
Mumbai: A video showing workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) went viral on social media, where a man was forced to perform squats for posting “objectionable” comments on party chief Raj Thackeray’s Facebook page. The incident took place Friday, following which a local party leader defe-nded the “punishment”, stating such behaviour would not be “tolerated”.
The incident took place in the Hadapsar area of Pune Thursday. The video showed MNS workers taking the man, aged 20 to 25 years’ old, to task, for his comment on Thackeray’s Facebook page.
The workers made him apologise for the comment and asked him to perform squats.
One of the MNS workers is heard saying in the video that because the man is a Marathi speaker and comes from a poor family, he is being let off with a light punishment. Ajay Shinde, MNS Pune unit chief, defended the party workers.
“Since the man is poor and he has no father, he was let off with a warning and punishment, where he was only made to do squats. But such behaviour cannot be tolerated as people, especially the youth, should not post something objectionable against any person who is higher in stature and age,” Mr Shinde said.
