Special children can use computers for CBSE exams
For all these provisions to be acquired by the candidates, they should first submit a medical proof to prove the ground disability.
Mumbai: In a first, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has allowed the use of computers for candidates with special needs during the board examination of class 10 and 12 that commences on Monday.
“As per the actual need and skills of the students with disabilities that is duly supported by certificate issued by medical practitioners/qualified psychological consultants, these students are allowed to use the computer facility for writing the examination, citing the ground on which recommendation for the use of computer has been made by the CBSE,” says the circular issued by the board that has been issued to all the schools in the country.
The notice has been sent to all the schools in the country. It further stated that the use of computers shall be limited to only for typing answers, for viewing the questions in the enlarged font size or for listening the questions.
For the same, the candidates will have to bring his or her own computer or laptop which will be first inspected and monitored by the computer teacher of the school and the supervisor before allowing the student to start with the examination. In all 7,356 differently-abled candidates have registered for the examination this year.
Adding to this, the candidates with type 1 diabetes will be allowed to carry eatables to the examination centre. For all these provisions to be acquired by the candidates, they should first submit a medical proof to prove the ground disability.
