Polygraph test not needed for Indrani, says CBI
Indrani, in a plea before the CBI court, had urged that she wanted to undergo a polygraph test.
Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in its reply before the court has said that it does not need to conduct a polygraph test also known as a lie detector test on Indrani Mukerjea. Indrani, in a plea before the CBI court, had urged that she wanted to undergo a polygraph test.
Special public prosecutor Bharat Badami along with Kavita Patil informed Judge J.C. Jagdale that the CBI had thoroughly investigated the case and did not need to conduct the polygraph test on Indrani at this stage.
Indrani, the prime accused in the murder case of her biological daughter Sheena Bora, last month urged the court that she wanted to undergo a polygraph test.
Indrani said that earlier, the CBI had sought to conduct these tests on her but she had not given consent because she was mentally stressed but now, she was ready to undergo the tests.
It may be recalled that such tests are generally not acceptable as evidence in the court of law.
The probe agencies take help of the report of these tests to get a lead in the investigation and in the Sheena Bora murder, the prosecution had already examined more than 35 witnesses, including accused-turned-approver Shyamvar Rai.
