BJP's grand celebration plans for foundation day
The occasion is seen as a formal launch of its campaign for the 2019 polls.
Mumbai: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning a grand celebration at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on its 38th foundation day on April 6. The party is expecting to see a gathering of three lakh people in the city for the programme. BJP party president Amit Shah will address the rally.
State BJP is trying to portray the event as party’s show of strength. The occasion is seen as a formal launch of its campaign for the 2019 polls.
State’s BJP chief Raosaheb Danve and Mumbai chief Ashish Shelar addressed the media on Wednesday to inform about the plans of party for BKC meeting. “State BJP is taking all efforts to get our supporters in Mumbai on foundation day. We are expecting three lakh supporters gathering at the event to celebrate the party’s success,” said Mr Danve.
State BJP has arranged 28 special trains across state, 50 thousand buses and jeeps are also expected to come to the city on the day. Mumbai BJP has been given task to get 500 people from almost every ward, sources said.
“The preparation for the rally is in its last stage. It will be similar to the rally of 2014. The people of Mumbai and Maharashtra are with BJP. This rally will prove this fact again,” said Mr Shelar.
Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Devendra Fadnavis, all ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs, ZP and Municipality members will participate in the rally. “Mr Shah will reach Mumbai on Thursday evening and there will be grand bike rally to welcome him” informed Mr Shelar.
