Mumbai: Those who have newly joined the BJP may not get tickets in the Assembly elections, said state BJP president Raosaheb Danve Tuesday. The BJP state chief said that the party was not making any commitment to the people who were newly entering its fold. Mr Danve indicated this while replying to a query about how the party would accommodate those coming from other parties in large numbers. Most of the Opposition legislators, who were said to be joining the saffron party, were currently representing seats either from the BJP or Shiv Sena.

Mr Danve said that whosoever joined the party, would be welcomed. Mr Danve cited the example of Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, saying that he had made a move towards the party and once he entered, he would be taken into its fold.

A formula for seat-sharing had been decided by the BJP and Sena where there would be 12 seats for alliance partners while the rest would be divided 50-50 between the Sena and BJP, said Mr Danve.

After being sworn into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet 2.0, Mr Danve arrived for the first time to the state BJP headquarters on Tuesday. Mr Danve alo addressed the party workers outside the BJP office.

Addressing the party workers, Mr Danve said that the mandate had been given in the name and works of PM Modi.
