CBI fudged garage records to implicate Peter, says defence
Pasbola pointed out that Peter was not the owner of the car.
Mumbai: The defence lawyer for Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in 2012 Sheena Bora murder case, on Wednesday claimed before the trial court that records of a garage, where the car allegedly used to murder Sheena had been sent for a wash, was tampered with to implicate co-accused Peter and other accused in the case. Meanwhile, another witness, a beautician, told the court that the day when Sheena was killed her mother Indrani had got a beauty treatment done.
While cross-examining Syed Sadique Riyaz, the owner of the garage, defence lawyer Sudeep Pasbola claimed that as per the record maintained in the garage's register, names of owners of vehicles was mentioned on the top of the page but in this case Peter's name is mentioned at the end, done at the insistence of the CBI.
Pasbola pointed out that Peter was not the owner of the car. He also claimed that no car was sent to his garage and Riyaz was deposing falsely at the instance of CBI. Another witness Angele Chung told the court that on April 24, 2012, Indrani had visited her beauty parlour, but on cross-examination it was revealed that the CBI had reminded her of the date. Sheena was killed the same day.
