Mumbai: Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) leader Aslam Badshahaji Sayyada on Thursday denied attending any BJP meeting and termed  the pictures doing the rounds on social media as misleading.

Mr Sayyada further claimed that he had visited the BJP office in Mumbai over an issue relating to Haj pilgrims. However, he added. these pictures are now being circulated online to discredit the VBA as BJP’s ‘B’ team.

Mr Sayyada, who had lost the recent Lok Sabha election from Hatkanangale, told The Asian Age over the phone that he had gone to meet Jamal Siddiki, chairman of the State Haj Committee, at the committee’s office for vaccination of more than 350 Haj pilgrims from Kolhapur in June. But Mr Siddiki informed him that he was at a programme of the BJP at its office in Dadar. Mr Siddiki however told Mr Sayyada to him at the BJP office as he was supposed to travel after the meeting.

The VBA candidate said, “I was waiting for him for more than one-and-a-half hour until the programme concluded. When I met him, someone clicked the photo and stated that I would be joining the BJP.”
