Mumbai: With the heavy rains lashing region since Thursday night, the water-level in Ulhas river rose, thus, submerging the Dahivali bridge. Instances of landslide and uprooting of trees were reported on the ghats of Matheran. The Dahivali bridge has been inundated, thus disrupting the movement of vehicles. Three-feet of water accumulated on the bridge in the morning, which rose to four feet by evening. Police personnel were deployed to restrict entry of vehicles. A resident of Neral, Mr Danish Shaikh, said, “Yes, the situation is terrible, the villages like Saalok, Poshir are badly affected. The electricity is also cut off. We have lost all connectivity so we have to wait till the water recedes.” He added, “Facilities of a medical emergency is primarily required, unfortunately, Neral is not well-equipped with all these facilities. During rains snakes often enter the homes. We don’t have primary health centres to help with snake bite instances.” Rains also lashed Nashik, Pune, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts, where water-logging was witnessed in various localities and rivers in full spate.
