Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday allowed Nationalist Congress Party leader (NCP) Chhagan Bhujbal to travel out of the state without seeking the court’s permission. Bhujbal is out on bail in a money laundering case. However, the court made it clear that he must inform the Enforcement Directorate in advance, if he plans to travel outside the state and provide an address and contact number where he can be reached.

The NCP leader’s application, which asked for that restrictions on his travel be lifted, was heard by Justice Prakash Naik. In his application, Bhujbal stated that since he is a MLA, he has to visit his constituency in Nashik and Delhi very frequently. His position as head of the Samata Parishad, also leads him to visit various places in the country.

Even though ED counsel, Hiten Venegaonkar opposed the application, saying that Bhujbal can tamper with evidence if permitted to travel without any restrictions, the HC accepted Bhujbal’s argument on travel.
