City eateries receive fire safety circular
In the aftermath of the Kamala Mills blaze, a series of inspections were launched in the city by the (BMC).
Mumbai: The Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association has issued a circular to all its 8,000 restaurant members in the city, educating and informing them about the safety measures to be taken to avoid any untoward incident like the one at Kamala Mills.
In the aftermath of the Kamala Mills blaze, a series of inspections were launched in the city by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). However, only about 400 eateries have fire safety licences, which means only those can be inspected, said an official from the fire department.
Talking to The Asian Age, President of AHAR, Indian Hotel & Restaurant Association, Mr Adarsh Shetty said, “Yes we have issued the fire advisory after the fire mishap at Kamala Mills Compoun. We have warned restaurants to take precautions. “We also have sent these dvisories to 65 associationsin state.
