NCP leader and former deputy chairman of Maharashtra Council Vasant Davkhare in Thane.

Mr Davkhare passed away on Thursday night after a long illness. He was known for his skills of maintain friendly relations with members of all parties. Mr

Davkhare was hospitalised for his prolonged illness from November last week. He was showing improvements and responding to treatments till Monday. But, by Tuesday his condition deteriorated and he breathed his last on Thursday night in Bombay Hospital.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was the first among the political leaders to reach the hospital to pay tributes to Mr Davkhare. While giving his condolences he said, “The state has lost a leader who was a friend of all and served the state with total devotion.”

NCP chief Sharad Pawar also reached Mr Davkhare’s home in Thane for the last rites. “Our party has lost a colleague who stood with us in good and bad times.

The state will remember his approach of inclusiveness in politics for very long,” said Mr Pawar.
