Ncb arrests 2 with charas worth Rs 5lakh
There are more accomplices of the arrested duo and hence the officials have not revealed details pertaining to the modus of their smuggling.
Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested two persons from Mumbai airport who were in the possession of 1.08 kg of charas worth Rs 5 lakh. The arrested duo belong to an inter- state drug trafficking racket, NCB officials said.
The drugs were brought to Delhi by road and from there via air, officials said. It is however unclear how the two persons, (whose identity has been withheld), managed to check in the banned drugs into the airline cargo. The accused duo was apprehended after they arrived from Delhi. The accused were apprehended based on the information that was given to the NCB by a tipper.
There are more accomplices of the arrested duo and hence the officials have not revealed details pertaining to the modus of their smuggling. This is the second seizure of cannabis from Mumbai. The probe is underway to ascertain if both the rackets are interlinked.
All the three accused will be questioned jointly to ascertain their links in Himachal Pradesh. It is also being probed if their supplier is the same. A case has been registered under the provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotrophic Substances act against the duo and they have been remanded to NCB's custody for further investigation.
