To iron out the confusion, the court directed the parents to fill up the application forms of various schools based on the criteria set by them as well as the AAP government.

Mumbai: After the high court judgement over the school fees issue regarding private schools, parents and activists are happy with the order. They feel a judgement before the beginning of the new academic year will give the schools a sense of responsibility towards fee hike.

“Initially, when there used to be issues like fee hike or money extortion, we were the ones who suffered. We did not have a way out but to give in to the demands made by the school,” said Sanchita Vardhan, a parent. She continued, “Even being in a democratic country, we were caged. However, now we have the voice to go ahead and complaint against the school if they don’t follow the rules formed by the court.”

The judgement, which was made on March 3, also satated that henceforth the education department officers will be given the right to take action against the school if they receive complaints. “Now, that is a legendary decision. This can assure us of the fact that the parents istead of approaching police or high cour they can get in touch with the education officers for assistance,” said Gautham Chatterjee, education expert who helps parents who are struggling with troubles related to schools and administration or management.

He said, “Since 2-3 years many parents have come to us for assistance over fee hike. It seemed like the schools had lost all the fears before making any decision against the rules made by the government.”
