Mumbai: The Palghar police cracked the case of a woman who was strangled to death and her body disposed of in Nalasopara. The police found out that the woman was having an illicit relationship with a labour contractor with whom she had been staying.

The contractor stayed with his wife and four children and also had another paramour. After the victim started staying with him, his paramour, two daughters and their male friends hatched the plan to kill her and executed it.

The body of the deceased woman was found by locals in Tulinj on March 1, following which, the police began a probe and with the help of CCTV camera footage, tracked down a suspicious auto-rickshaw which had been in the area the previous night.

“The driver was tracked down and he revealed about the labour contractor with whom a woman had been staying since the past few months. The deceased was staying with his family comprising his wife and four children. After the victim joined the family, the contractor’s wife and eldest daughter left for their native place,” said an officer of the Palghar police station.

The officials said that the contractor had another illicit relationship with a woman, who later conspired with his two underage daughters and their male friends to get rid of the victim.

They caught hold of her when she was alone at home and strangled her to death and later, disposed off her body at Nalasopara. The body was transported to the spot in the rickshaw that was tracked down by the police.

All the accused have been booked for murder and acts of common intention under the Indian Penal Code and have been remanded to police custody for further investigation.
