Sharad Pawar: Will unite anti-Modi leaders

Mumbai: The Congress has been publicly opposing the inclusion of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). The party has ensured that it is not linked with the MNS, as the Raj Thackeray-led party is known as an anti-North Indian party. However, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has increased troubles for the Congress by saying that the MNS chief will be holding public rallies for it.

Mr Pawar told the media that Raj Thackeray was not keen to fight Lok Sabha elections but he will hold rallies against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He added, “Raj Thackeray has taken stand against Modi government. If he is consolidating votes against Mr Modi, it would be helpful for the Congress-NCP alliance”. He further added “I thought he will keep his views separately, therefore I was in talking terms with him.”

Mr Pawar said, “At that moment, the Congress was not keen to include MNS into the alliance, Now, they (Congress leaders) are insisting to organise Mr Thackeray’s rally in their constituencies and feels that he should have been included in alliance.”

Mr Pawar asserted that the country needs change and said “I will bring all anti-Modi leaders even after the election.”
