Mumbai: In a scene straight out of a Bollywood potboiler, a 36-year-old sub inspector from Shivaji Nagar police station, Prakash Ingle, Sunday night nabbed an absconding “attempt to murder” accused at Kalyan railway station after chasing him for nearly 400 metres.

Ingle was boarding a CST-bound train when he spotted the accused, Farhan Khan, who also faces two rioting charges, sitting at Kalyan station. Ingle got off the train and kept an eye on Farhan for two hours as per his senior’s instructions as a team was already on its way to nab the accused. On seeing Farhan board a UP-bound train however, Ingle fought off two of the accused’s friends to drag him out of the train. Farhan tried to flee but Ingle overpowered him.

Ingle said, “Till 8.45 pm, I kept a watch on Farhan, roaming around the station so that he would not get suspicious. But at 8.45 pm, he, along with two friends, got into Azamgarh Express.” That’s when Ingle called his senior only to find out that the team would take another hour to reach Kalyan. Ingle then got into Azamgarh Express and asked Farhan to come out.
