Ministers to file reply for BKC food court PIL
Wategaonkar says that MMRDA has leased the land to the restaurant owner; therefore it has issued demolition notice to restaurant.
Mumbai: The Bombay high court has directed minister of state, urban development department, Ranjit Patil and Pravin Pardeshi secretary of chief minister to file its reply within three weeks.
The HC was hearing petition filed by activist Pravin Wategaonkar who alleged that the party had stayed the demolition notice issued by MMRDA to the food court in BKC.
On Wednesday, the court asked advocate general to appear in this case next time. In the petition Wategaonkar alleged that Mr. Ranjit Patil, minister of state, urban development had misused his power and stayed the demolition order of MMRDA, which was issued, to ‘Wok Express’ restaurant in Bandra-Kurla complex. According to the petition, the restaurant has done illegal construction on the ground floor and in the basement.
Wategaonkar says that MMRDA has leased the land to the restaurant owner; therefore it has issued demolition notice to restaurant. The restaurant owner had challenged the said order before urban development department beca-use MMRDA comes under Urban Development (UD).
In the last hearing, HC directed the petitioner that ministers will also be included in the petition and said that without hearing them we cannot pass an order. The court will continue with the matter after four weeks.
