Teen arrested for flashing woman

The accused came and stood behind the woman's husband and made the lewd gestures and flashed.

Mumbai: The Andheri Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a 19-year-old teenager who allegedly molested a woman on the station’s FOB on Saturday night. The police said that the woman was with her husband when the incident took place soon after which she raised an alarm and the accused was apprehended.

The accused was identified as Mutra Yadav, a resident of Nalasopara. The officials said that Yadav had flashed at the woman following which the persons present on the bridge heard her shout aloud and accosted and thrashed him.

“Yadav not only flashed at her but made obscene gestures. The couple was waiting for a Virar train. The accused was there from before and after spotting the woman he came towards them and did the acts,” said an officer of Andheri GRP.

After the GRP apprehended, the police learnt that the couple was going to attend a function at Mira Road and were to return to their residence at Versova. The accused came and stood behind the woman’s husband and made the lewd gestures and flashed. The officials are now investigating if he is wanted in any similar offence.

A case has been registered under sections 354 (A) (harassment of sexual nature) and 509 (outraging modesty of woman) as per the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The GRP produced in a railway court that remanded to judicial custody.
